Let’s Talk About HRT…

Posted by Lynnwood Undressed

I’m not really an Oprah fan…but she is currently opening a dialog that I have done a lot of research on.  She’s talking about hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

If you are a woman over 35 and are struggling with menopausal symptoms like: Hot flashes, night sweats, anxiety, depression, bitchyness, low energy, confusion, foggy thinking, loss of passion, low or no sex drive and I’m sure there are more…you owe it to yourself to do some research.  I know that not all women have these kinds of symptoms, but if you do there are options for you.   A good thing about Oprah is that she makes things mainstream, opens a dialog and great information becomes available.

Oprah’s guests were Robin McGraw, Dr Phil’s wife, and Dr Christiane Northrup.  Both of course were touting their own books.  Robin McGraw’s book is: What’s Age Got to Do with It.  Dr Northrup’s book is: The Wisdom of Menopause.  I ordered both of the books on Amazon.com.  You can also buy both of the books at Costco…for a couple of dollars less.

They do an informative overview of HRT options and risks and talk about why they do what they do.   It’s very good information.  I did hours and hours of research to get the information about bioidentical hormones that they gave me in one hour.  Most of the information can be found on Oprah’s website.

Oprah will continue the dialog on Thursday January 29th with Suzanne Somers  Suzanne’s last 3 books are: ( I own all 3)

  1. The Sexy Years,
  2. Ageless,
  3. Breakthrough

All three are great resources, and are about her journey with hormone replacement.  I am going to DVR Oprah’s show on Thursday.  Suzanne also has great information on her website.

I am not just a researcher…I made a decision.  The most difficult part of my journey was finding a Dr who understood all the options and would do what I wanted to do and also have wisdom to add to what I already knew.

The good news… I found a wonderful clinic that specializes in hormone replacement therapy for both men and women…in Lynnwood.   Look for the details in a later post.
